Garbage Scow on Wheels - week 34

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

On a recent visit to see the kids in Maryland, I caught the trains running at the Waste Management yard in Jessup. They use a couple of interesting locomotives.  The USWX 2 is a 1951 EMD SW8 that first saw service on Lehigh Valley, then Conrail, and ITI before its current home. The JRWX 8379 is a 1958 EMD GP9 rebuilt into its current GP10 form. It first served the Illinois Central Gulf, then Carolina Piedmont, and now Johnson Rail. Yes, even smellier than it looks. Week 34 was August 16-22.
