The R3 Dual Rail Gang is the only such rail replacement crew operating- they replace both rails at the same time. After the old rail has been slid to the outside of the ties, the Sergeant (SGT-Standard Gauge Threader) rides the old rail as it slides the new ribbon from the inside of the ties to its proper position atop the plates. The following units will heat the rail, and tack it down with spikes. Rube Goldberg would be proud of this one-of-a-kind mechanical wonder.
