Ilchester Tunnel and Bridge

Just up the Patapsco River from Relay/St Denis and the Thomas Viaduct are the Ilchester bridge and tunnel. The bridge and tunnel were built in 1902-03. A previous bridge there (Patterson Viaduct) was destroyed by floods in 1866 along with many of the mills along that part of the Paptapsco.  The track is part of the original B&O Line from between Relay and Ellicott City. I took these photos in December 2019.
